This is a thrifty store-cupboard dinner. The creamy sauce is quick to make from scratch.

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 200°C / 180°C fan. Cook the noodles and drain.
  2. Cook the onion and mushrooms in the butter for 5 minutes. Stir in the flour, then the milk.
  3. Simmer for 3 minutes, then stir in most of the cheese.
  4. Mix in the noodles, tuna and peas and tip into a dish.
  5. Top with breadcrumbs and cheese and bake for 20 minutes until golden.
Cook's noteCrushed crisps make a fun topping instead of breadcrumbs.
